‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5 To Feature Zombies On Sharks Throwing Snakes?

The Walking Dead’s first episode of its upcoming fifth season features the show’s biggest ever action sequence.

That’s according to its lead star, Andrew Lincoln. Lincoln, who has played Rick Grimes on the post apocalyptic drama for the last four seasons, has opened up about its impending return to the small screen.

Alongside Steven Yeun’s Glenn, Norman Reedus’ Daryl and a hoard of other survivors, Rick and his son Carl are currently locked inside a train car inside Terminus – a location they thought would be a haven from the zombies marauding across the globe, but is instead simply run by cannibals.

Season five’s first episode will pick up immediately where the fourth season finale culminated, and now Lincoln has been talking to The Walking Dead’s executive producer and the creator of the comics, Robert Kirkman about what we can expect.

Lincoln said to Kirkman regarding the first episode, “I think that this first episode is the strongest, most complete episode that we’ve done. It’s full of action, the biggest action sequence that we’ve ever attempted. But it’s also got one of the most incredible narrative scripts, and one of the coolest after credits coda.”

The English actor also revealed that the mid-season finale is “huge” and features another deft-defying action sequence. Kirkman then probed him for more information regarding what makes the action different, to which Lincoln replied, “How is it different? There’s zombies on sharks throwing snakes this year.”

It’s probably safe to assume that Lincoln was joking about the above scenario, especially when he went on to add that they come from Daryl’s underwear. If it turns out to be true though Lincoln will have a lot of explaining to do. As will the show’s writers.

Of course the biggest surprise that has been teased for the show’s upcoming new season is that Daryl, who is widely regarded as The Walking Dead’s sexiest star, might actually be gay. This is despite the fact that he has previously been romantically linked with both Carol and Beth over recent episodes.

Kirkman previously declared when asked about Daryl’s sexual orientation: “All I can say is that it’s been discussed. We have specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently being distracted by crossbowing… we’ll tackle it in the show.”

The brand-new season of The Walking Dead will premiere on AMC on October 12, 2014.
