Erin Corwin’s Body Found, Marine Wife’s Lover Arrested: Christopher Lee Facing Charges

Missing pregnant Marine wife Erin Corwin has been found, and the Marine wife’s lover is facing charges regarding her death. Erin Corwin went missing on June 28, and her body was found in a mineshaft on Saturday. Christopher Lee, a neighbor and friend of the Corwin’s, emerged as a suspect when his alleged romantic relationship with the missing woman came to light. Now, he has been arrested on suspicion of having killed her.

According to WBIR, the Marine wife’s lover was arrested in Alaska. Lee, 24, is a former Marine who had lived next door to Cpl. Jonathan Corwin and his wife Erin. He left the base a few days after Erin Corwin went missing, and he moved back to Alaska with his wife and daughter. Shortly after he had left the Twentynine Palms, California area, information emerged that alleged that he and Erin may have had a relationship that went far beyond friendship, and he became a suspect in her death.

KPBS reports that the Marine wife’s lover first became a suspect about a month after Erin Corwin’s disappearance. It had been said that Erin Corwin disappeared after she left to go visit Joshua Tree National Park in what was said to be a visit to scout out the area for her mother’s impending visit. Erin’s husband reported her missing the next day. She was three months pregnant when she disappeared.

A probable-cause affidavit via the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department indicates that Erin Corwin and Christopher Lee developed a romantic relationship after connecting at the White Rock Horse Rescue. A friend of Erin’s indicated that Erin and Lee were planning a day trip together on the day she disappeared, and the trip was to celebrate her pregnancy. The friend also indicated that Corwin said Lee was worried his wife would divorce him if she learned of the affair. It also seems that Erin may have believed the baby was Lee’s, not her husband’s.

The case gets even more complicated as the affidavit also notes that Lee’s wife Nichole seemingly indicated to the White Rock Horse Rescue Ranch owner, Isabel Megli, that the police had missed something in the garage related to Corwin’s disappearance when they searched the home. Nichole also allegedly indicated that “without a body the detectives did not have a case against them and the detectives would never find the body.” Megli has since indicated that the authorities “put a spin” on what she said, though she admits “I’m not going to say I didn’t say it.”

The family has released a statement confirming that Erin Corwin’s body has been found. They note that they had hoped for a different outcome, but they express their gratitude for those who helped search for Erin. According to CBS8, Lee was arrested at 10 p.m. on Aug. 17. He was being held until federal agent picked him up, according to the Anchorage Correctional Complex clerk.

There is certainly much more yet to come out on this case, though those who have been following it are glad that the family can finally have some sense of closure now that the pregnant Marine wife’s body has been found. So far, it does not appear that Nichole Lee has been arrested in the case. More information regarding the charges against the Marine wife’s lover, Christopher Lee, regarding Erin Corwin’s death should be available soon.
