Robin Williams Dead Body Photo Is Not Real Says Law Enforcement

A Robin Williams photo said to be of his dead body has been circulating on social media. According to TMZ, the photo is not real. A link to see the actor’s dead body was passed around by hundreds of people last night. However, the picture — which does resemble the actor — was taken years ago, and was not released by the coroner’s office despite what you might be reading online.

“We’ve traced it back… the pic was taken from a Spanish language website that deals with strangulation and has several images posted to illustrate. The image that was sent around Tuesday night resembles Robin, but it was posted several years ago.”

The Robin Williams dead body photo made its way to Williams’ daughter, Zelda. According to the report, the 25-year-old tweeted a message about it, and then deleted the tweet. She reportedly said, “I’m shaking. I can’t. Please. Twitter requires a link and I won’t open it. Don’t either. Please.” Moments later, Zelda announced that she would be leaving social media, maybe forever.

Law enforcement confirms that the dead body photo that is circulating is not of Robin Williams. According to the Mail Online, the photo was actually digitally altered to look like Robin Williams. Whoever created the photo was simply trying to get attention for one reason or another, and social media users are encouraged to report anyone who circulates the fake pic. The two users believed to have been responsible for creating the fake pic have been identified as @PimpStory and @MrGoosebuster. These two accounts have already been suspended by Twitter.

Fake death photos circulate from time to time after someone famous or well-known has died. Many people remember the deaths of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston being similar, although one of Houston’s dead body pics actually was real. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, The National Enquirer published a photo of Whitney Houston in her casket. Many believe that someone from Whigham Funeral Home in New Jersey leaked the photo. The dead body picture went viral, and infuriated Whitney’s family. However, any talk of a lawsuit quickly disappeared.

Aside from getting their Twitter accounts closed down, the two people believed to be responsible for creating and circulating the fake dead photo of Robin Williams likely won’t face any consequences. Do you think that they should?
