Meredith Baxter Heads To ‘The Young And The Restless’: Who Will She Play?
Meredith Baxter is headed to The Young & the Restless, and fans of the iconic actress cannot wait to see her in her new role. Just who will she be playing on the soap opera? It seems the Family Ties star will be a boozing buddy of Nikki Newman’s. However, there is more to this character than just a lady who likes to knock back some drinks.
According to TV Guide, Meredith Baxter will play a character named Maureen on Y&R. The soap shares some The Young & the Restless spoilers that indicate that Maureen is a “charming, intelligent, middle-class woman” who “appears kind and sympathetic, but can be quite manipulative.” While Maureen is going to be sharing a lot of drinks with an off-the-wagon Nikki, she will be crossing paths with others in Genoa City as well.
Baxter will first appear on Y&R on Sept. 8, and it sounds like she will be sticking around through the fall. It is teased that “boozy Maureen has connections in town” and it will definitely be interesting to see how this all plays out. Apparently she has her eye on living a more glamorous lifestyle, and it sounds like she has plans to try to make things happen.
So, just who will Maureen be connected to in town? Y&R fans are already floating around some theories, wondering if she could be related to Stitch and Kelly. Many commenters online are making out a solid case for how Maureen could possibly be Kelly and Stitch’s mother, and it certainly sounds possible. Granted so far the show hasn’t spelled out just how closely connected Maureen will be to some Genoa City residents, but the theory seem plausible.
Other fans wonder if perhaps Baxter’s Maureen could turn out to be Mariah’s mom. While it does sound as if the Cassie lookalike’s mom is headed to the canvas, it seems that another actress has taken on that role. According to Soap Opera Network, Karina Logue shows up as Helen Copeland beginning Aug. 14. A lot of viewers are still floating around ideas regarding how Mariah could still somehow be Cassie’s long-lost twin, but it’s unclear at this point whether that idea will ever come together. While this new role of Helen is shrouded in a bit of mystery, it certainly seems likely that Logue’s character will be Mariah’s mom, and many can envision Baxter fitting into a role that is Kelly and Stitch’s mom. Of course those behind the show may have an entirely different vision regarding who Maureen is and what she will be doing.
People still love to watch Baxter act, and her fans go back to the days of Family Ties and Family. Will they follow her over to Y&R this fall?
