Heiress Adopts Lady: Dog Who Walked 30 Miles Home To Rejection Gets Heiress Love

An heiress has adopted Lady, the black lab that made headlines when she was given away by her adoptive family, only to escape her from her new owner’s backyard and walk 30 miles back to her original home where she was rejected by her previous owner. According to Dallas News, the aging pup flew in style — on a private jet — to Florida, where she will live out the rest of her years with Helen Rich, an heiress to the Wrigley gum company. Rich has an animal sanctuary in Florida, where Lady arrived safely with an assistant on Thursday night.

Here is a brief synopsis of what happened to Lady, who was previously named Ma Kettle.

“Kelsey Loyd has twice cared for Lady at the shelter. She told KWCH-TV that the first family who adopted her returned her because she was rough with their puppy. Then she escaped from the backyard of the Independence woman who had subsequently adopted her, trudging the 30 miles back to the family’s home. Neither the family nor the woman wanted her back, so she was returned to the shelter.”

The heiress who adopted Lady (and renamed her as she saw fit) will take excellent care for her. As her assistant described, Lady is going to “think she’s gone to heaven,” which will be a super-nice, well-deserved change for the poor pooch who was neglected.

According to KWCH, Lady is a calm, gentle dog, and one that deserved a lot of love from the right person. Helen Rich’s assistant thinks that Lady has found that in Ms Rich.

“It’s a blessing to do a lot of nice things for her, she does a lot of great things for the community at home and through the world actually so it’s nice to help her.”

It’s great when people are able to adopt dogs and give them better homes. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, The Big Bang Theory actress, Kaley Cuoco, and her husband, Ryan Sweeting, recently adopted a pup named Ruby. Kaley and Ryan were able to give Ruby a wonderful new home, and shower her with tons of affection and love.

The heiress who adopted Lady sounds like a wonderful, caring woman. It is nice to see that there are people like this in the world, that will do whatever they can to help others — and animals — in need.

Are you happy that Lady found her forever home?
