Marvel’s New Villain Unleashed In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

If you haven’t seen Guardians of The Galaxy yet and don’t want to be spoiled you should stop reading here. Over the weekend some fans discovered that the character Thanos is well represented in the new film.

Thanos has been anticipated since Marvel fanatics caught a glimpse of the character in The Avengers post-credit sequence, and since then fans have been waiting to see if Thanos would show up in Guardians of The Galaxy. As many expected from hints prior to the release Thanos was present in the film. As the father of Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), the character creates huge tension between the two characters in the form of a sibling rivalry.

Back in May we reported that actor Josh Brolin signed up for several Marvel films. Although nothing has been confirmed fans know that Brolin will be featured more in future Guardians movies as well as other Avengers films. Brolin’s involvement in the first Guardians film is just the beginning for the purple baddie.

For those who aren’t aware the character is a member of The Eternals. Thanos has demi-God abilities that are superior to humans. If we had to sum Thanos up we would call him a mad titan. Additionally he has his own device that brings him enormous power. His gauntlet is capable of manipulating time, reality, space and transfixing a human soul.

Even though it’s known that Thanos will play an additional role in Marvel films, Marvel’s head honcho Kevin Feige was hesitant to spoil the surprise for viewers prior to Guardians‘ release.

“He’s not a part of Avengers 2. I think Thanos kind of does what he wants, shows up where he wants to. And I’m not going to tell him otherwise, so you don’t know exactly. Smirking at the end of the first Avengers. But you know, we’re still making Avengers 2, so nothing’s definitive one way or the other, actually.”

Although there was clear discretion on how much Josh Brolin would appear in additional Guardians films, Director James Gunn was frank about Brolin’s inclusion.

“Thanos is actually modeled on Josh. The character, if you can look at him, he looks like Josh. We motion captured Josh for the dialogue and everything. So it’s, I don’t know why. There’s secrecy around everything Marvel does. Because at the end of the day, you know, people spoil everything. And also, you know what, people make too big of a deal about everything.”

We’re certainly looking forward to seeing more of Thanos and what Brolin brings to the role in future Marvel films.
