Malia Obama Attends Lollapalooza In Chicago, Causes A Stir On Social Media

Malia Obama hit up the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago this weekend, taking in some rap music and causing a stir on social media.

The 16-year-old daughter of President Barack Obama attended the gig in her hometown along with some friends and some giant Secret Service members. Malia tried to blend into the crowd, but many spotted the First Daughter and took to Twitter to share their excitement.

Many noticed Malia Obama at Lollapalooza during the Chance the Rapper performance, the closing act on Sunday night.

But Malia Obama wasn’t exactly in the mood to mingle at Lollapalooza. The teen turned down some fans who wanted pictures, saying she wasn’t allowed. User JD tweeted, “I asked Malia Obama for a picture and she said she wasn’t allowed to take pictures with people”

Malia Obama and her younger sister Sasha have turned into quite the music aficionados. Mom Michelle noted late last year that his daughters were big Beynoce fans, and that Malia’s tastes were maturing a bit.

“They love Jay Z. They love Beyonce. Sasha is still a One Direction fan, although I think Malia has become a little less into boy bands,” Michelle told People magazine. “They’ve gotten to know Beyonce, and she has always been very sweet to them.”

Malia has grown up quite a bit since the wide-eyed young girl when her father was first elected. She will be entering 11th grade next year at the private Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., and this summer worked as a production assistant on the set of the new CBS sci-fi show Extant.
