‘Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ To Film In Downtown Detroit

It will be a busy week in downtown Detroit as the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice cast and crew get ready to film some big scenes with the city as a backdrop. A local radio personality shared the information on his Twitter account, with photos that indicate the production is headed to the downtown area.

WWJ 950 AM program/news director Rob Davidek shared this image on the social media website:

The photo, captured by reporter Vickie Thomas, appears to be of the Corktown neighborhood in the Motor City, one of Detroit’s oldest. This confirms several news reports that a big car chase scene for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice would be filmed in that area of town this week, which appears to be right on schedule.

On Location Vacations, a website that deal with all things Hollywood, reported on July 17:

“As we’ve reported, there is a large set being constructed for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (though if you ask the crew what it’s for they’ll probably tell you it’s for a commercial) at Sixth and Abbott St. in Detroit’s Corktown district and now we have some ideas as to when filming at the site will take place.”

“Several businesses in nearby areas have received notices stating a movie will be filming from August 6th through August 9th around Shelby St. from W Larned St. to Lafayette and Fort Street from Woodward to Washington Blvd. The notice also says there will not be any explosions, but business owners should expect smoke and “fast moving cars.”

As well as some other ones:

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) are expected to be filming in Metro Detroit throughout the summer. The Inquisitr reported last month that the Zack Snyder production is expected to move to Chicago in the fall.

This was the pattern followed by Man of Steel, which also shot some scenes in which Superman’s alter ego, Clark Kent, was seen riding his bike in the Windy City. The first installment in what’s expected to be a series of DC Entertainment films was filmed in part in Plano, Illinois in 2012.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will see two of the most popular superheroes face-off for the first time ever on the silver screen. Snyder’s blockbuster is scheduled to fly into theaters on May 6, 2016.
