Miss Teen USA 2014: Katherine ‘K.’ Lee Graham Wins As Miss South Carolina 2014 [Video]

The crown for Miss Teen USA 2014 now belongs to Miss South Carolina 2014 K. Lee Graham, who beat the first runner-up Miss Mississippi Vaeda Mann for the title. But what makes this 17-year-old beauty pageant queen so special and why does she only have an initial for a first name?

In a related report by The Inquisitr, I’m sure by now you’ve heard about how former Miss Delaware Amanda Longacre lost her crown due to being “too old” for the Miss America organization. But did you know that she was not the first woman to have this problem? Check out our exclusive interview with Natalie McGovern, who is supporting Longacre in her Miss America lawsuit and believes the organization needs to clarify the beauty pageant rules.

Fortunately, there’s no scandal when it comes to Miss Teen USA 2014. The competition took place without incident on Saturday in the Bahamas, which was a “dream come true” to Graham:

“I don’t know how many times I went to bed thinking about this. I just want to thank everyone, all of my sponsors. Everyone out there, thank you for supporting me. We did it!”

So what’s with the K. Lee? No, it’s not short for Kalie or something like that. Her full name is Katherine Lee Graham but she’s simply been called K. ever since she was an infant. Her slightly older sister had difficulty pronouncing Katherine and could only utter the “K” sound. Ever since then the nickname has stuck tight.

But Miss Teen USA 2014 cannot be limited to just a cute nickname. She is the top of her class in high school and she’s working toward attending the University of South Carolina Honors College. Miss South Carolina 2014 may also give The Inquisitr a run for its money in the future since she’s also a writer in addition to having a passion for theater, dance, singing and acting.

K. Lee Graham also believes in giving back to the community and she’s been a volunteer with her church’s children’s ministry. In 2014, she’s also helped with the USO, the American Heart Association and LifeChangers. Her good works have also been published on the internet since she’s been blogging on Live Beautifully in order to encourage women to focus on inward beauty and not external appearances:

“[This blog] has become an outlet for me to address and express some of my opinions about issues regarding body image, self-esteem and personal identity that young adults are challenged with every day.”
