‘Louis Slungpue’ Prank Calls News Station During UCLA Water Main Break [Video]

ABC News anchors were left quite embarassed after a prank caller was aired live on television. The prankster called into ABC 7 in Los Angeles pretending to be a Department of Public Works employee named Louis Slungpue – which he noted should be pronounced ‘Slung-poo’.

The news anchors ask Slungpue a number of questions about the water main break at the UCLA campus that left cars stranded and a large portion of the campus under water. The prankster tells the anchors he is with the DPW and knows the source of the water main break, a cherry bomb being dropped down a toilet. The anchors seem astounded and press Slungpue for more answers.

As the conversation progresses, Slungpue announces that the DPW is fairly certain the incident is a result of a cherry bomb or a very large dump clogging the lines. At this point the call is disconnected and you hear someone in the back of the news station say, “it is a fake call.” Unfortunately the female anchor seems unaware that it was all a prank and proceeds to wish they could get Slungpue back on the line to provide more specifics.

Meanwhile, as if the segment needed anymore comedy, a college student can be seen attempting to skim board down the steps of the flooding building with other students cheering him on. The news anchor sounds dumbfounded and asks, “did I just see a kid go down the stairs on like a boogie board?” Sadly for the anchors, it appears the whole day was one big joke when utimately it is relayed to the anchors that the call was a prank and viewers are told to disregard the information. The anchor can then be heard saying, “that is not funny.”

What do you think? Was the water main break prank call funny or uncalled for?
