‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5: Andrew Lincoln Talks Daryl Dixon’s Underwear Sharks As Series Gets Zombie Competition

The Walking Dead season 5 will be one wild ride if Andrew Lincoln’s vision for the show becomes reality.

In a video posted on the Official Walking Dead YouTube channel, Robert Kirkman can be seen talking to Andrew Lincoln about the show. The Walking Dead creator interviewed Lincoln for Skybound at the Fox International Comic-con Breakfast in San Diego.

Because Kirkman has such big say in who gets to live and die on The Walking Dead, Lincoln had to be extra careful not to reveal any spoilers while talking about the AMC series. However, when Kirkman asked how season 5 is different from previous seasons, Andrew Lincoln went a bit overboard trying to come up with an answer that wouldn’t reveal too much:

“There’s zombies on sharks throwing snakes.”

Andrew Lincoln probably should have tried selling this idea to the Syfy Channel – it’s way more original than Sharknado 2: The Second One. If Roger Corman sees Lincoln’s interview, expect to see The Walking Dead star’s vision come to life in the near future.

After Andrew Lincoln’s out-there answer, a curious Robert Kirkman proceeded to ask a perfectly logical question: Where do the sharks come from? Here’s Lincoln’s response:

“Daryl Dixon’s underwear. Oh no, sorry — those are the crabs.”

Giving Darly Dixon crabs is one way to stop Bethyl and Caryl shippers from fighting over the future of the redneck’s love life.

Season 5 of The Walking Dead might not actually feature sharks and snakes, but Andrew Lincoln did promise that viewers will get to see the “biggest action sequence” the show has ever attempted. And the series better keep being ambitious, because it’s actually about to get a little competition from the network that brought fans Sharknado 2.

According to Zap2it, the trailer for the Syfy series Z Nation looks like “The Walking Dead in the early seasons.” It’s about a group of zombie apocalypse survivors who trek from New York to California in hopes of finding a cure. Their group includes the only known person to survive the zombie plague after being bitten. Z Nation will introduce a type of zombie The Walking Dead viewers haven’t seen yet: an undead baby. The series stars Harold Perrineau, Tom Everett Scott, and DJ Qualls.

It’s a good thing Andrew Lincoln is so good at entertaining fans with his awesome interviews, because Z Nation isn’t the only upcoming zombie series hoping to infect The Walking Dead fans with its own unique strain of the zombie virus. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Bruce Campbell is set to rejoin forces with Sam Raimi to work on a TV series based on their popular Evil Dead movies. There’s no word on if any networks are already interested, but it’s not hard to imagine it on FX, HBO, or Showtime.

Do you think these new series will be able to compete with The Walking Dead without their own Andrew Lincoln or Norman Reedus?
