WWE: Batista, CM Punk, And The Top WWE Superstars Who Have Huge Heat On Them

It is understandable that in a profession of egos, you will be on the bad side of someone. In any profession, if you love your job you will hate settling for second best. The same happens in Pro-Wrestling. WWE especially is full of political issues where certain people can make or break certain situations, and at times, cause a rift between themselves and other talent. Sometimes heat is forced upon people and they just have to handle it. Who has the worst heat on them? Of these people, simply take your pick.

Rey Mysterio

The high-flying masked superhero has amazed us with his fast paced lucha libre style for years. Most see him today as the best lucha libre performer ever. If you watch his first years in WWE and his runs in WCW and ECW, you can see why people thought he was amazing and almost untouchable in the ring. The issue is, even though Rey Rey has never caused a lot of problems with other talent, he has caused issues with management.

The issue WWE has run into with Rey is that due to his injuries, they feel like he owes them. So they extended his WWE contract without his permission. They did this as a way to keep him under contract but also did it as a way to keep selling his merchandise, which does well with kids.

Rey has decided to stop cashing WWE checks and make it a point to get out of his contract. It seems like he will not hold back when trying to do that. Rey has garnered some heat with management over the years, however most think it is rightful for how he is treated by them. WWE may not be happy with Rey over his attempts to get out of his contract, but most fans who know the whole story seem to be behind the masked man.

CM Punk

CM Punk has always been a heat magnet for WWE. Whether it was with the fans or with those backstage, Punk didn’t care who he angered in WWE. He loved being the best and wanted to make sure he was treated like he was. This has caused tension with him and others for years. So it should come as no surprise that after he left the WWE in January the way he did, fans and those backstage would not be a huge fan of his. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon despise him, according to reports.

CM Punk spoke only with Vince McMahon when it came to coming back, of which he denied doing numerous times until his contract expired last month. Due to hatred from Triple H and Stephanie for how he walked out, only Vince seemed to be the one trying to get a deal going.

His departure also left a sour taste in the mouths of other WWE Divas and Superstars. It is rightfully so. He left WWE high and dry when they had a big need for him heading into WrestleMania 30. Most feel that if Punk were to come back to the WWE, it would have to be Vince McMahon’s personal call to bring him in, and he would not be well liked upon the return. However, if he were to come back eventually the talent would take to him like they always have. Punk has had a reputation of either being loved or hated for how he goes about things. So that would remain a constant whether he came back or not.

Rusev and Lana

Let’s be honest, Rusev and Lana are only doing their jobs. However, WWE is making them out to be these horrible people out to kill America seemingly. They have become such heat magnets that they have attracted major media attention from several outlets. Fox News all the way to The Daily Show has covered the words Lana has spoken about their Russian leader Vladimir Putin. It has become a main story in all of media, and WWE being at the center of anything similar to this is something they love to see.

The one thing they did not plan on was for things to get even worse in Russia. Due to this, WWE has begun to tame down the characters of Rusev and Lana. They are still keeping the edge of the characters there, but they have slowly begun to remove some things from their promo and segment spots. WWE could go much further, but they have refrained. We will see if they end up going with some original plans for the pair eventually. The idea currently is for Jack Swagger to get a big win for America at SummerSlam, but that remains to be seen.

Brock Lesnar

As we have reported on The Inquisitr, Brock Lesnar is not without heat. Lesnar has been a heat magnet backstage throughout his entire WWE career. He has somehow remained out of that since his return. Probably because he’s not around as much to tick people off. That does not mean he cannot do so, however. Lesnar had some heat recently for how he completely ignored a fan who caught it all on camera. Lesnar does play a heel on TV, but he is a complete jackass to most in real life even without his WWE persona. So how he handled this fan was nothing new for the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.

Lesnar is now being booked to win the WWE World Heavyweight Title soon, and that has more resentment piled on him. He is a part time WWE Superstar, and like The Rock before him, many do not like it when part timers come in and win titles. Chris Jericho seems to stay out of the argument due to the fact he comes back and works a full time schedule each time. He is certainly “back” when he is in the WWE. Brock Lesnar works mere TV dates for WWE and no live events. Paul Heyman handles any media for Lesnar as his manager, which is certainly helpful for Brock.

With the normal hatred for Lesnar already there on top of him coming back to win the only World Title WWE had right now, Superstars are not fans of his by any means. Most cannot blame them for that.

Randy Orton

Randy Orton’s heat seems to always grow, never diminishing. When he was a babyface, Orton seemed to be relatively good and getting better. However, any time Orton is a heel, he is so anal over how he is used and how his character is done. Due to this, almost everyone seems to have an issue with him unless they are a major star already. Recently, Orton has been trying to take attention away from WWE’s potential new poster boy, Roman Reigns. The two have worked together many times, so it is weird that a problem has currently begun with the two.

Orton has been using a “crowd killing” style according to another Inquisitr report. The idea behind this style is to make the opponent look bad and you look good. It kills momentum they have in the match and they cannot get over. Orton has been doing this at live events, which is basically a practice before the TV tapings. If Orton does this on TV, he will hurt how fans will look at Reigns, thus causing a problem for WWE.

Orton has been known to be a selfish hothead, so it comes as no surprise that heat is now on him again. Orton is in a unique position however. He currently has two strikes against him for his two Wellness Policy violations and due to the heat he has had on him in the past, WWE officials are less likely to put up with his crap. So Orton could have more issues from his heat than most.

Batista

The Animal is known for being a good guy away from WWE. There are personal stories of how good he is with WWE fans that I have heard myself. While Batista never seems to have an issue with the fans, he is does not seem to have a lot of love backstage. Batista has had heat on him backstage in the past, but recently he has had issues with management. Like Mysterio, he actually does have a valid argument.

Batista came into WWE to win the Royal Rumble and get into the main event at WrestleMania to win the WWE World Heavyweight Title. That was taken away from him and he never got a one on one match for the title. They used this story in his storyline, but it seemed that WWE didn’t want to do much about it. Batista is set to come back in September, but it is said that he would have stayed a bit longer had the issues not been there.

Dave signed a good deal with WWE, and one that it seems he was happy with originally. But as I reported months ago, Batista is not happy, and that will be something he will bring up when he returns. His heat from people backstage seems to be less than it is in management, as Dave has made some people unhappy there. Most do not blame him for causing issues that he has caused due to be lied to. However, that does not mean the heat is not there.

While most do not care for him due to him being a part-timer, he is by no means as bad as a Brock Lesnar, who works small dates. Batista has worked live events among other things. That being said, for all the flack he gets from fans, he’s at least there when he’s there. Management would be wrong to not give him a bit more upon his return.

Whether it’s heat with people backstage, with management, or with both…some Superstars and Divas simply cannot escape the fate of hate. A lot of it has to do with ego, and a lot of has to do with being a perfectionist. Everyone in WWE contracted as a wrestler loves being one, otherwise they wouldn’t be there. Due to this, everyone has pride and everyone wants to look good. Sometimes this cannot happen. Other times, people get opportunities you might deserve. Really, things just happen.

Sadly, whether it’s WWE or any other profession, heat will always exist — and if these men want to remove it, they know what they have to do. Until then, they will have issues that will cause them to be disliked.
