‘Destiny’ Beta Infographic Breaks Down Bungie Stats For PS4, PS3, Xbox One And Xbox 360

Bungie shared statistics from the Destiny beta on Friday that shows just how many players participated and what actions they took in the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 shooter.

That 4.6 million people participated in the Destiny beta was already shared by Bungie earlier in the week. The developer broke it down further in an infographic below to show how many Guardians were created, how many games were played, plus stats from the story-based missions and Crucible multiplayer matches.

The beta was the largest in Bungie history, but that shouldn’t have been a hard one to break as only Halo 3 is the only previous time that the company ran an open beta. That was just for the Xbox 360 versus the four platforms that the Destiny beta enjoyed.

Interestingly, the stats showed that most players only created a single Guardian and stuck with them. Only 6.5 million characters were created, which is barely better than 1.4 times the number of players that participated.

Of the 4.6 million that played the Destiny beta, the most that participated at the same time was 853,253. This appeared to occur on Saturday, July 26 when the Moon was made available to play during a brief two-hour window. 851,264 people visited the moon during this time period, but 1,969 faked going to the moon according to Bungie.

The PvE activities such as story missions, Strikes, and exploring were definitely favored over Crucible multiplayer. Players participated in 57.8 million PvE activities versus 30.5 million Crucible activities, per the infographic. Meanwhile, barely a little more than one million participated in the Iron Banner multiplayer, which left the power ratings on weapons and armor as they were versus leveling them out during non-Iron Banner matches.

“This test was huge for us,” Community Manager David “DeeJ” Dague wrote in a Bungie Weekly Update. “In the final hours of our grand experiment, we put you to the real test. We knocked you down, but you got up again. We shrank the pool of available servers. We kicked you into orbit, applied patches to your ships, and watched as you descended to fight and dance and rage. Again. There was no stopping you. In the end, we had to kick the plug out of the wall.”

Destiny launches for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 worldwide on September 9. You can get a peek at some of the content what will be available in this recent Inquisitr article. The developer also recently revealed Raids and confirmed that you’ll need five friends and plenty of spare time to tackle this challenging experience.

Bungie was quite thorough in its Destiny stats but forgot to count Glimmer.
