Invisibility Cloaks, For Real?

It may not be long before you can turn into Harry Potter and make yourself vanish with one simple cloak.

Scientists say the idea of an invisibility cloak may not be as far-fetched as it once seemed. Much work is being done on the idea using something called a “superlens,” which basically uses a light trick to make objects undetectable. When lights hits the lens, it bounces back in the same direction — thereby cancelling itself out, in theory.

The idea hasn’t been successfully pulled off just yet, and experimenters say the early trial runs may be limited to hiding very small things only. Here’s hoping they fast-track this thing and get it done soon — or, at the very least, let us be among the beta testers.
