‘She’s Hot’ Jokes Burn Up Internet After Sexy Selfie In Front Of Massive Pier Fire Posted Online

As the historic Eastbourne Pier on England’s south coast Wednesday, one woman thought that would be a great time to show off her bikini body. So the young woman posted a sexy selfie to the internet forum Reddit showing herself at the beach, beer in hand, having a great time as the 144-year-old pier burned in the background.

The blaze required 80 firefighters to extinguish, and fortunately no one was injured. But the selfie by a Reddit user with the online alias Yoko8th took attention away from the fire and the millions of dollars in damage that it caused, and instead set off a series of “she’s hot” puns on the internet.

With the photo attracting comments like “S***’s on fire, yo,” “She’s smoking,” and “That is something really hot,” even Britain’s Mirror newspaper got in the act, headlining its story about the sexy selfie, what else? “Smokin’ Hot.”

Yoko8th herself, assuming that is actually her in the photo, didn’t seem to take the destructive and potentially deadly fire too seriously. She labeled her photo, “A Day At The Beach,” and later commented: “Brighton Pier already burned down. This is Eastbourne pier following suit, which went up in flame today after caving into pier pressure.”

Finally, she commented, “Don’t worry. The emergency services were called promptly to the scene, namely the Waaaaaaaaambulance.”

Investigators have characterized the fire as “suspicious” and an arson inquiry is now underway.

A number of other Reddit users took turns Photoshopping various different kinds of drinks into the hand of the young woman in the photo, while some noted the woman’s supposed resemblance to pop star Katy Perry.

Not everyone was amused by the sexy selfie, however. “So fashionable to enjoy destruction and human suffering,” wrote one commenter.

“I swear to God, one day the apocalypse will come and everyone will be posting selfies,” noted another.

The Mirror also found another selfie on line, this one on Instagram, from the Eastbourne Pier fire.

The young gentleman in this selfie captioned his photo, “But first let me take a selfie…” an apparent reference to the YouTube hit music video “#Selfie” by the New York-based dance music duo The Chainsmokers.

That video has received over 188 million YouTube views since being posted on the site in January.

The British government has pledged £2 million, or about $3.4 million, to restore the historic pier, which will then undoubtedly become the site of many a future selfie.
