Mom Punishes Daughter By Selling Her Katy Perry Tickets, Says She ‘Doesn’t Deserve’ Them

A mom punished her daughter by selling her Katy Perry tickets online and described the girl as a “spoiled brat.” The 18-year-old girl lost her tickets for the August 23 concert in Fargo, Minnesota after she apparently did something unacceptable.

Cindy Bjerke advertised her teenage daughter’s tickets on the Fargo Moorhead Online Garage Sale Facebook — and sold them in under five minutes. She got 200 “likes” for her short ad which also says that her daughter “doesn’t deserve these tickets.” The tickets were purchased for $110, but she was willing to settle for $90, Daily Mail reports.

The Facebook ad read:

Daughter is a spoiled brat and doesn’t deserve these tickets. For sale, 2 Katy Perry tickets for August 23rd in Fargo. Section 50, Row G, Seats 3 & 4. Paid $110, will take $90.

Bjerk’s hasn’t identified her daughter or share what it was she did to “deserve” this punishment. The only bit of information offered about what the girl did to provoke her mother into selling the tickets, is that her behavior was disrespectful.”

The mother’s choice of discipline has stirred a bit of controversy… with many criticizing her for publicly shaming the girl online. They believe she should have handled the matter privately. Bjerke is amazed at the overwhelming positive feedback she got for selling the Katy Perry tickets online, however.

Some may question why this mother punishes her daughter in this way, but she has no regrets. She tells WDAZ8:

“I think a lot of parents are like me and feel they are being bullied over how they should parent their own children.”

Bjerke adds:

“I think everybody is more scrutinized, and it doesn’t matter what side you’re on. It’s always wrong to somebody.”

The Facebook ad that Bjerke posted is in a close group which requires permission to join. 17,000 members are in the group and the ad has been removed because it was distracting from the page’s purpose.

Katy Perry is in the middle of her U.S. “Prismatic World Tour.” It began in June in North Carolina and will end in October before she heads onto Australia and Canada.

What’s your take on how this mother punished her daughter? Was it out of line, or the perfect way to teach her daughter a lesson? There are a vast number of arguments for and against this type of punishment. In this instance, at least the 18-year-old girl wasn’t identified or exploited on social media.
