Mika Brzezinski: MSNBC Co-Host Calls Her Show ‘Morning Jew’ [Video]

Was it just a flub or a Freudian slip?

After just completing an interview yesterday morning with Ron Dermer, the Israeli ambassador to the U.S., about the Gaza conflict, MSNBC Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski — who was anchoring by herself — said “keep it right here on Morning Jew… Joe” as she broke for a commercial. See embed below for video of Mika’s slip of the tongue.

Given the typically low ratings for anything shown on MSNBC, few viewers probably saw Mika Brzezinski’s blooper in real time although it did generate some social media chatter.

Brzezinski is a liberal Democrat who usually supports the Obama agenda down the line with some exceptions. On a non-political basis, she did generate some buzz last summer when she strongly denounced the controversial Miley Cyrus performance at the VMA Awards.

“Morning Joe” Scarborough himself apparently was off yesterday, so he was not on the set to hear his co-host’s gaffe. Upon his return to the show today, Scarborough decided to level criticism against Israel for what he claimed was elevating Hamas as a champion of the Palestinian people as a consequence of invading Gaza.

According to Scarborough, a former Republican Congressman who describes himself as a 100-percent supporter of the Jewish state, “this continued killing of women and children, in a way that appears to be indiscriminate, is asinine… As much as we all hate Hamas, what is going to replace Hamas is going to be much worse. It’s going to be a radical Islamist group instead of a power-hungry, corrupt people that despise Israelis. This is such a nightmare that is unfolding… The United States of America — we cannot be associated with this if this continues. This is so bad, not only for the Israeli people, but for us.”

It might be interesting to find out if Scarborough would feel the same way if terrorists, for example, were lobbing thousands of missiles at his home base in Pensacola, Fla., or building secret tunnels to butcher innocent civilians in the Pensacola area.

Scarborough or other media elitists may have also forgotten that Hamas purposely uses innocent citizens as human shields in hospitals, schools, places of worship, or in residential areas, or the unprecedented measures that the Israel Defense Forces take to minimize civilian casualties, often at grave risk of their own soldiers.

As The Inquisitr has separately reported, in addition to physical combat, part of the strategy of Hamas is to take the sympathies of the public and the Western value for life and use it against Israel in an all-out propaganda war. From the statements coming out of the United Nations and the White House, as well as much of the media and entertainment industry, that strategy appears to be effective.

According to the Powerline blog, accurate on-scene reporting is another problem. “Honest journalism from Gaza about Hamas’ tactics has been difficult to come by. Anti-Israeli media bias may have something to do with this. But threats by Hamas against honest journalists are probably a bigger factor.”

In a subsequent interview with Politico in which he sought to clarify his remarks, Scarborough added that “Far from taking an antagonistic approach towards Israel, I am most concerned about Israel’s long-term security. And Israel does not become more secure by increasing attacks that continue to kill women and children.”

According a report in the New York Times, some of Israel’s neighbors are no fans of Hamas, a movement officially designated by the U.S. as a terrorist organization, despite what they might say publicly. “After the military ouster of the Islamist government in Cairo last year, Egypt has led a new coalition of Arab states — including Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates — that has effectively lined up with Israel in its fight against Hamas, the Islamist movement that controls the Gaza Strip… Egyptian officials have directly or implicitly blamed Hamas instead of Israel for Palestinian deaths in the fighting, even when, for example, United Nations schools have been hit by Israeli shells, something that occurred again on Wednesday.”
