WWE News: Top Independent Tag Team The Young Bucks Heading To WWE?

WWE has been attempting to literally sign some of the best wrestling talent in the world. They realize that they have an ability to bring in some if not all of the best. Now that TNA is going in a negative direction, WWE has now even more so become a destination for top Indy talent. Why not? WWE is the top promotion in the world. When you hear WWE, you know it’s wrestling. You know the name because it’s globally recognized, it’s on TV weekly. Not many companies or even TV shows can say this.

Due to WWE’s success, it’s not a wonder that the company would want to sign some people that could be big for them. The Young Bucks, a well known Indy tag team that also spent time in TNA Wrestling as Generation- Me, has been making waves for the last number of years in Pro-Wrestling. I spoke to Nick and Matt Massie, (also known as Matt and Nick Jackson) personally in an interview in 2011.

Both were terrific in the interview and very nice. Both love Pro-Wrestling and it really shows. They aren’t afraid to tell you like it is either. They have been related to The Hardy Boys, Matt and Jeff Hardy. It seems that they are almost the same size and everything. One is also more calculated while the other will go the top and do crazy stuff at a moments notice. One thing that stood out to me when I asked them about their potential career in WWE was, they both pushed it off due to the travel schedule. While this could have changed, I assume it could come up in the future for them.

WWE has had interest in them in the past and Nick sent out some interesting tweets making us really consider the idea that they are either signed or going to be, saying:

It’s pretty ironic we’ve lost the PWG, ROH, and IWGP Tag championships in a matter of a month…..

Then he followed with a picture of the WWE Tag Team Championships, saying:

Pretty ironic that these coke bottles were sitting near tag team championship belts.

This is not the first time the two have had WWE eyes on them. Going back to late 2011. WWE had interest and even brought the two in for a try out. They did really well according to reports, but an incident backstage made WWE look the other way. Apparently Booker T made it a big deal that they went past him without shaking his hand, which he felt disrespected about. He then proceeded to talk about it and well, the end result in all of this was that the Bucks did not get signed.

The two have literally done all they could possibly do on the Indy scene. Here are a list of tag titles the two have won since they started as a major tag team a few years back:

Alternative Wrestling Show

-AWS Tag Team Championship (1 time)

Chikara

-Campeonatos de Parejas (1 time)

Dragon Gate USA

-Open the United Gate Championship (1 time)

Empire Wrestling Federation

-EWF Tag Team Championship (1 time)

Future Stars of Wrestling

-FSW Tag Team Championship (1 time

House of Glory

-HOG Tag Team Championship (1 time)
-HOG Tag Team Championship Tournament (2013)

Insane Wrestling League

-IWL Tag Team Championship (2 times)

New Japan Pro Wrestling

-IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship (1 time)
-Super Jr. Tag Tournament (2013)

Pro Wrestling Destination

-PWD Tag Team Championship (1 time)

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla

-PWG World Tag Team Championship (3 times)
-Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament (2009, 2011, 2013)

Ring of Honor

-ROH World Tag Team Championship (1 time)

Just going off of this list, clearly the Bucks are worthy of being called to the WWE and used. While they are not big guys by any means, they are good in the ring and have improved on the mic since they were in TNA. WWE could easily develop them in NXT for a bit.

The brothers are only 29(Matt) and 25(Nick) respectively. Both guys have plenty of youth left to do this for a while. Very much similar to the Hardys where one might be older but also can still compete for a long time. WWE has been trying to improve it’s tag team division and there is a huge push for it in wrestling these days. The Young Bucks would easily help the WWE accomplish it’s goal.

Again, they are one of the most accomplished Indy tag teams in the world right now. They have been in the top places and around the world, they are global stars. WWE has an interest in people they can take anywhere and use. Nick and Matt both have wrestled men in various countries with all sorts of wrestling styles. So they are journeymen who know how to work against anyone. WWE will have to tone their crazy aerobatic style down a bit, due to the need for them not to get hurt. However, don’t think WWE would shut them down from being themselves.

Of course, while no official signing is set in place, it is telling that Nick would drop such hints. It would be weird for them to make tweets showing a potential WWE signing. WWE has been on a release binge, but that does not mean they cannot hire. They would have to drop all their titles before jumping to WWE too, which is something they seem to be doing progressively.

We will see what happens with the Young Bucks and WWE as time goes on. I will say that WWE will have two major guys to boost the tag division if they do, in fact, sign the two of them. They are at least worth an NXT opportunity.
