Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are apparently past their divorce drama. Sources close to the couple say they are planning to add a baby to their family very soon.
In the past few months the couple has been bombarded with rumors of infidelity, fighting, and reports that they are spiraling toward divorce. But sources said after Portia's stint in rehab this May, the couple decided to focus on strengthening their marriage, which has led to talk of a baby.
If true, the report would signal quite a turnaround for Ellen DeGeneres, who has been steadfast in her desire to remain childless.
A new source says that Ellen's jokes about remaining childless weren't entirely true, and that she was just waiting for the right time.
"Ellen has always said that she wants to have children with Portia one day, but she wants to wait until things slow down for her," a source told Radar Online.
That time may be now. Sources have indicated that the couple is looking into having a baby.
The source did not say how Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi would be looking to have a baby, but a separate source told In Touch magazine that it could be surrogacy. A report from the magazine's August 4 issue claimed that Portia has been in contact with the Center for Surrogate Parenting in Encino, California.
The source told Radar Online that though Ellen has said in the past she doesn't want children of her own, the comedian has always been great with little ones.
"Ellen is so good with kids and when a friend is having a baby, she loves to shower the mom with gifts," the insider continues. "She is very generous with others kids, so one can only expect that it will be the same when she has one of her own."
"Whenever Ellen encounters a baby, she has them laughing in seconds because she starts making funny faces and doing her cartoon voices with the kid," the source added.
Having a baby would be seen as a big sacrifice for Ellen DeGeneres, but she has already proven that she's willing to go far to save her marriage to Portia de Rossi. Reports indicated that after Portia left rehab, Ellen vowed give up alcohol entirely despite the fact that she's been known as a "big drinker."
