As the current war between the State of Israel and terrorists in the Gaza Strip rages into its fourth week, the U.S. and the UN are doing what they can to restore calm to the region.
At least five official ceasefires have been announced with all of them being broken, within hours, by rockets and missiles sent from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which rule the Gaza Strip with an iron fist.
The Israeli defense forces have done what they can, under the circumstances, to minimise the civilian death toll, both for Israel and the Palestinians.
Since the beginning of the current conflict, Israel has taken extraordinary measures to warn Palestinian civilians of intended airstrikes by dropping thousands of leaflets, sending text messages, and even making phone calls to them in Arabic.
But every time the IDF does that Hamas cynically orders its civilian population to stay put as Palestinian deaths, especially those of woman and children, serve as great propaganda fodder for the ever-ready media.
By doing this, Hamas is actually exploiting the West and using it, as well as its own dead citizens, to put pressure on the Jewish state to stop its offensive, in order that it, and other terror organizations, can take a breather and regroup before they plan their next move.
Of the five ceasefires announced over the last few weeks, it was confirmed by numerous sources that, on each occasion, Hamas broke the ceasefires by sending a barrage of rockets onto Israeli towns and villages.
And just to make things even more absurd, Hamas even broke their own ceasefire a few days ago, which they had asked for due to “humanitarian concerns.”
Whether it’s the Egyptian initiative, the Arab League proposal or the John Kerry plan, Hamas seems to have no interest whatsoever in any type of temporary ceasefire, let alone an enduring long-term solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
This goes to show, clearly and without question, Hamas cares not for the lives of the very woman and children it administers in the Gaza Strip, while Israel accepts and tries to implement ceasefire after ceasefire in order to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The world is fooling itself if it believes that it can impose any kind of ceasefire on Hamas. One just needs to take a glance at the Hamas official charter and read its eighth article entitled: The Slogan Of Hamas, which is: “Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief.”
There certainly is not really much room for compromise when Hamas openly admits their goal is the absolute annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people.
