Jessica Alba Discusses The ‘Dark Side’ Of Filming ‘Sin City 2’

Jessica Alba had an opportunity to wander through the “dark side” while filming Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s Sin City 2.

After a year-long delay, A Dame to Kill For is finally headed to theaters across the country next month. Fans of the original flick will once again get to see Alba portray sexy stripper Nancy Callahan, a role that allowed Jessica to return to a character she originally tackled almost 10 years ago.

During her appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con, Jessica Alba said returning to Nancy’s world allowed her to once again to explore the “dark side” of this fascinating character. The actress also said she was much more confident in Callahan’s stripper boots this time around.

Alba explained:

“I just really kind of connected with the dark side of Nancy, and it was hard to detach from that until the movie was over. The whole time I was in Austin [Texas, where they shot the film] I stayed connected to that spirit. I was a lot more sure. In the first one, I was in my early twenties and I was just trying to figure it out. I was so intimidated just being in your world…. The second time I felt like a woman comfortable in my own skin, and I wanted to kick ass.”

Jessica previously told Entertainment Weekly that she was still a little wet behind the ears when she signed on for the first film. She said:

She was more naive in the first film. Ignorance was bliss. In this one there’s no bliss and no ignorance. I wanted her to transition from being a victim to being someone who’s in control of her own story. I was such a deer in the headlights when I did the first one. I was so green and just trying to take it all in. I have a fearlessness now that I didn’t before.”

According to Cinema Blend, Jessica Alba may have a chance to tackle the character one more time. Although this writer isn’t sure what happens to Nancy over the course of the Dame storyline, Alba could reprise her role in Sin City 3. Frank Miller revealed that he and Rodriguez are kicking around ideas for another go-around.

“Robert and I are already talking about ‘Sin City 3.’ So you better show up for number two, or they won’t pay for it,” Miller explained.

Jessica Alba fans can catch Sin City: A Dame to Kill For in theaters on August 22.
