Ed O’Neill Makes Al Bundy Proud, Gets Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in Front of Shoe Store

Ed O’Neill revitalized his career with his role as Jay Pritchett on ABC’s “Modern Family,” but he’ll always be known as shoe salesman Al Bundy from “Married With Children.” And just so O’Neill never forgets his roots, his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will be placed in front of a DSW shoe store on Hollywood Boulevard.

O’Neill was initially put off by the idea of having his name on the famous walkway. O’Neill told The Vindicator, his hometown newspaper in Youngstown, Ohio:

“I never liked the idea of it. It’s bizarre, names on a sidewalk. People can spit on it. I thought it was kind of weird.”

But the Emmy nominated actor is now coming to terms with his sidewalk honor.

“I was actually very humbled, once I got over the initial shock and realized it’s something to be proud of.”

O’Neill will be given his Hollywood star today in a presentation that will feature his two TV wives. Sofia Vergara, who plays his wife on “Modern Family,” and Katey Sagal, who played Peggy on “Married With Children,” will both give speeches honoring Ed before his star is revealed.

O’Neill was nominated for two Golden Globes for his work as Al Bundy, and has also received an Emmy nod for his work on “Modern Family.”
