‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ Spoilers Reveal Return Of ‘Asylum’ Character And Long List Of Freaks

American Horror Story: Freak Show is bringing back a popular character from Season 2 of AHS.

According to Wetpaint, a call sheet for the first episode of Season 4 has leaked online. There’s no confirmation that it’s the real deal, but if it is, fans of American Horror Story: Asylum are in for a real treat.

One of the characters listed on the call sheet is Pepper, the microcephalic from Season 2 who encounters aliens during her stay at Briarcliff Manor. Actress Naomi Grossman will return to reprise her role as the character.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Pepper was actually based on Schlitzie, a microcephalic who starred in the 1932 movie Freaks. Obviously Ryan Murphy looked to that cult classic for inspiration while crafting the characters for American Horror Story: Freak Show.

It will be really interesting if Grossman is playing the same Pepper from American Horror Story: Asylum. Because Freak Show is set during the 1950s, it could actually focus on Pepper’s life before she ended up in Briarcliff. So far all the American Horror Story worlds have been kept separate, so linking them up would definitely shake things up.

In Asylum, Pepper was institutionalized because she was accused of drowning her sister’s baby and cutting off its ears. However, she later revealed that her sister’s husband actually committed the crime.

The American Horror Story: Freak Show call sheet lists Jessica Lange as Ethel Mars. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Mars is a German ex-pat charged with running Ryan Murphy’s carnival of souls. Her character is based on Marlene Dietrich.

Kathy Bates’ character is named Ethel Darling. The name doesn’t seem to offer a hint about the “unusual” that she’ll be playing, but many fans think that she’d make a perfect bearded lady. However, it might be more fun to see her as the tattooed lady.

Even Peters will be playing Ethel’s son, Jimmy Darling. Michael Chiklis was cast as Jimmy’s father and Ethel’s ex-husband. Chiklis’ character is a strongman, but his name isn’t listed on the call sheet.

Sarah Paulson will play conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler, and Ann McKenzie is listed as a character named Eudora Tattler. Perhaps she’ll be playing a relative who exploits Bette and Dot.

Erika Ervin is listed as Amazon Eve. According to the Daily Star, Ervin is a model who also goes by the name Amazon Eve. She was born a man and transitioned from male to female in 2004. At 6-foot-8, she’s the world’s tallest professional model. Obviously she’ll be playing a “giantess” on American Horror Story: Freak Show.

John Carroll Lynch’s character is listed as “Twisted Clown.” Ryan Murphy previously revealed that the show would feature a character named the Clown Killer who would be “the most terrifying clown ever.” Spoiler alert: The crazy clown will kill one or more of the characters listed here in the first episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Mat Fraser will be playing “Paul the Illustrated Seal.” Fraser is a musician who was born with phocomelia, a condition that left him with short, malformed arms. There was actually a famous freak show performer who lived during the 1950s who suffered from the same condition. He performed at freak shows under the name “Sealo the Seal Boy.”

Rose Siggins is listed as “Legless Suzy” on the American Horror Story: Freak Show call sheet. Siggins’ legs were amputated when she was a child, so it’s pretty obvious which freak show act she’ll be playing.

Other mysterious characters include Mildred Bachman (Ramona Tyler), Penny the Candy Striper (Grace Gummer), Salty (Christopher Neiman), and Meep (Ben Woolf). Woolf played the Infantada in American Horror Story: Murder House. Salty will surely be Pepper’s sidekick.

Cast members not listed on the call sheet include Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Denis O’Hare, Wes Bentley, and Finn Wittrock. Bassett will be playing the wife of Michael Chiklis’ character; O’Hare’s character is a “collector of freaks”; and Wes Bentley is “a dark tormentor from Kathy Bates’ past who is hell-bent on revenge.” The roles of the remaining stars listed above still remain a mystery.
