More Ted Nugent Shows Cancelled After Offensive Remarks

Another Native American tribe has responded to the social media firestorm surrounding rocker Ted Nugent, cancelling his upcoming appearance in the wake of allegedly racist remarks that have landed the “Cat Scratch Fever” singer in hot water.

No stranger to controversial, sometimes offensive remarks, Nugent set off a storm of controversy earlier this week after the Coeur d’Alene tribe cancelled his August 4 performance in Idaho. As The Inquisitr previously reported, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC)’s Hatewatch project contacted the tribe, informing them of remarks that Nugent made in which he lashed out at President Obama:

“I scare that c***sucker, you know what I mean? He don’t like Uncle Ted because I celebrate freedom. That motherf***er don’t like freedom. He don’t like Texas. He don’t like liberty, that piece of ****. He hates Uncle Ted.”

After the Coeur d’Alene tribe cancelled Ted Nugent’s appearence, the rocker lashed out, saying “”I take it as a badge of honor that such unclean vermin are upset by me and my positive energy,” before adding “By all indicators, I don’t think they actually qualify as people, but there has always been a lunatic fringe of hateful, rotten, dishonest people that hate happy, successful people.”

Now, another Native American tribe has gotten involved in the controversy, USA Today reports. Puyallup tribe officials in Tacoma, Washington have cancelled Nugent’s scheduled concerts at the Emerald Queen Casino, which were to take place on August 2 and 3. John Weymer, a spokesman for the tribe, contended that they felt pressured by community members who demanded that they cancel Nugent’s shows.

On Tuesday, Nugent defended himself, speaking to Radio.com in their studios. The singer said that his music was proof enough that he is not a racist, claiming that he was the victim of a liberal “army assigned to destroy Ted Nugent”:

“I am so good at advancing the most politically incorrect policies in the world. I have been involved in upgrading our Second Amendment rights in all 50 states, so we the people can in fact keep and bear arms…the left hates that. The liberal democrats and the Huffington Post and the Saul Alinsky gang, they hate that I’m so effective. I have expanded and increased hunting opportunities all across the globe. So I am able to, dare I say, perfectly articulate my case — they are not!”

Nugent is known for advocating hunting and gun rights. In the past, he has had to apologize for calling President Obama a “subhuman mongrel,” although he contends that the Commander in Chief is a “liar.” Ted Nugent is currently promoting his album Shut Up & Jam!
