The Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX Limited Edition has been announced for those who pre-order the game that has a release date of December 2nd, 2014. The game will be for the PlayStation 3 and include a collector’s pin as part of the free upgrade.
As part of a press release on the official Square Enix website:
For the devoted followers of the KINGDOM HEARTS series, SQUARE ENIX, Inc. today announced the Limited Edition for KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.5 ReMIX. Fans that pre-order the Standard Edition of the game at participating retailers will also receive a free upgrade to the Limited Edition (while supplies last), which includes the exclusive Disney collectible pin featuring Sora and Mickey Mouse.
The pin, which is part of the official Pin Trading program at the Walt Disney parks, will be a great addition to the Disney Pin Collecting lanyard for Disney World park goers. It is not uncommon for the limited circulation pins to go for several hundred dollars to the more dedicated pin collectors who are often seen with books of pins for trade at the parks. Comparing this against Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX which featured a slip case cover with an art book for those who pre-ordered the game, the offering seems a bit less.
As far as typical “Limited Editions” go the upgrade is a little underwhelming even by Square-Enix standards. A limited edition for the Final Fantasy XX-2 HD Remaster, which released in March of 2014,had more content including a special issue case, posters, art book and a Blu-Ray soundtrack. This particular edition had a higher price point to justify the additional material, however the as it was still called the “Limited Edition” there is a certain amount of expectation put behind a similar descriptor for a different game. In the case of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX there is no physical difference to the box, it’s contents or game content.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX is a fully remastered HD compilation of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. Both games will be available for the first time in North America for the PlayStation®3 system. Theatrical cut-scenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:coded will also be included in the compilation. The game is a follow-up to last year’s Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and will also lead into the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III.
