Scientists Discover Diamond Planet, Dub It A Girl’s Best Friend

Astronomers combing the southern sky have found a new planet that appears to be nothing more than a giant diamond.

According to Space.comPSR J1719-1438 is the remnant of a dead star which spins 10,000 times a minute around a white dwarf, pressure is so high on that planet that it crystallized the dead star’s carbon into an actual diamond.

While the planet is only 12 miles across it also has 1.4 times the density of our sun.

While harvesting a diamond planet might make jewelers salivate, it’s not exactly close, according to researchers you would have to travel 4,000 light-years from Earth to land on the planet.

So as the saying goes, is this a girl’s best friend?
