Cop Suspended After Threatening Woman On Camera: ‘I’ll Knock You Clean F***ing Out!’

A British police officer has been suspended after he was caught on camera threatening a woman verbally while he was patrolling the streets of Stoke-on-Trent, England, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 22-year-old was with her boyfriend at the time of the incident, and he filmed what was happening on his phone. According to the video footage, the officer approached a group of revelers and shouted at the woman, “Do that to me again and I will knock you clean f***ing out.”

The video clip, which lasts just 1.07 minutes, shows the police officer threatening the woman twice. After the first clear threat, he responded to a question from the boy friend with: “You heard, I said I will knock her out.”

Later, the officer tempered his threats, and can be heard on the video clarifying his comments by saying: “Yeah, yeah. If she tries to throw a punch at me, of course I would.”

The Staffordshire Police force have confirmed to reporters that the officer who made the verbal threats was suspended after the footage was handed over to them by the young couple.

The video clip, which was posted on Facebook before it was removed, had around 1000 views and was on its way to going viral in Britain. The woman who on the receiving end of the threats made by the cop said to reporters:

“I was really shocked when I saw the footage. If it had been the other way around and I had said that to him then I think I would have been arrested. You can hear in the video how panicked I am and that I’m close to tears. I’m not knocking the police, and the policeman we first spoke to was really nice. After this all happened he spoke to us and he was really calm. But I don’t know where that one particular guy came from and I don’t know why he threatened me.”

A spokesperson for the police released an official statement about the incident, saying:

“Our communities expect only the highest standards of conduct from our officers, and while we recognise they can often face challenging situations, it is important that they remain professional throughout. A formal complaint has been taken in relation to the incident in Hanley involving one of our officers in the early hours of Sunday.”

The Staffordshire Police have also voluntarily referred the matter to the Independent Police Complaints Commission in Great Britain.
