58-Year-Old Woman Who Shot Boyfriend Over Poor Romp In The Sheets Granted Bond, Prosecutors Oppose Ruling

Sadie Bell obviously felt an unprecedented level of disdain for her boyfriend’s sexual performance. However, what she did to express her displeasure landed her behind bars. On July 28, 2013, Bell reportedly shot her boyfriend, Edward Lee, after they had a poor romp in the sheets.

The 58-year-old woman accused Lee of cheating due to his low sperm count. The victim reportedly suffered injuries to his colon and pancreas. As a result of the extensive injuries, he was hospitalized for five months following the shooting. In April, Bell was convicted of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

According to Detroit Free Press, prosecutors are appealing an Oakland County judge’s decision to release Bell from prison. Chief Assistant Prosecutor Paul Walton explained Bell’s warped reason for shooting her lover. She reportedly admitted that they’d had sexual intercourse at her apartment, and she was led to believe he had been unfaithful. However, her reason for believing so was quite shocking.

“The underlying facts in this are a little bizarre,” Walton said. He revealed that Bell has actually been involved in a 15-year affair with the victim. “She was upset with him,” Walton explained, “after a sexual act that she felt he wasn’t performing adequately and accused him then of having an affair, and then took out a gun and shot him.” The prosecutor went on to discuss Bell’s “graphic” statement, which provided a detailed account of the events that led up to the shooting.

Walton explained:

“She stated that she knew he was having an affair because he wasn’t producing enough ejaculate. She also said to the police some very graphic things about how she expected him to perform, she was a cheap date, she liked sex, she expected him to be able to do what he’s promised; and she said, in essence, to quote her, she was pissed off, so she shot him.”

Although Bell was granted bond, prosecutors are appealing the decision because, surprisingly, this isn’t her first offense. According to CBS Local-Detroit, Bell was sentenced to 20 months to 10 years in prison for another incident involving gun charges. Back in 1991, she reportedly shot her husband. Surprisingly, no charges were brought against Bell for that shooting. Now, prosecutors are arguing that she belongs behind bars.

Bell was granted a $10,000 bond. However, as of Thursday (July 17), she had not posted bond. Do you think Bell should have been granted bond?
