Victoria And David Beckham: Why Divorce and Cheating Rumors Now?

There are few celebrity couples with a higher public profile than Victoria and David Beckham, but one of the prices to be paid for this exposure is a constant examination for any signs of discord between them.

Rumors about the true nature of their relationship surface from time to time, notwithstanding the fact that they have been married for 15 years, and have four children.

However, an article on the DirtyCelebLaundry website alleges that they have “the most perfunctory relationship in showbiz.” The basis for this claim is that their respective careers and business interests leave them very little time together. Another report in OK! Magazine reinforces that contention.

The magazine suggests that both stars are workaholics, so that hasn’t allowed them much time to work on their marriage. An unnamed source told OK!, “The workaholic couple have spent more time working on their careers and raising their four kids that they have on romance. Their marriage has been more like a business.”

And then there were the allegations of David Beckham’s rather too well publicized affairs. In 2004 there were claims from David’s former personal assistant (!), and an Australian fashion model, that David had slept with both of them – but not at the same time!

OK! says that these events must have driven a pretty strong wedge between David and Victoria. On the other hand, it seems that she has forgiven him and, anyway, didn’t divorce him.

Obviously, the children have a binding influence, and the birth of their youngest child and first daughter, Harper Beckham, appears to have had a positive effect. However, their marriage still retains a “business-like” sheen.

OK! Magazine says that since both stars are workaholics and don’t have much time to work on their marriage. A source explains, “The workaholic couple have spent more time working on their careers and raising their four kids that they have on romance. Their marriage has been more like a business.”

But maybe that’s just what they need. The fact is than when they first met they were also very busy, David with football and Victoria with her alter-ego, Posh Spice, as a member of The Spice Girls. After the group split up, there was a period of time when Victoria had little or nothing to do. It was then that the marriage suffered and the allegations of David’s infidelity surfaced.

It was at that time that Victoria seriously considered divorce, although the couple went to great lengths to try to prevent their children’s nanny from selling that story, in all its lurid detail, to the now defunct News of the World.

But that was a long time ago. After David left the national team, Victoria founded her fashion business, and they moved to the U.S.

And now they are living happily ever after!
