Iggy Azalea may seem unaffected by Nicki Minaj's cryptic comments during the BET Awards, but apparently the public hasn't received the whole story.
For those who haven't heard, a lot of people thought the "Lookin A**" rapper was throwing a stack of major shade in Azalea's general direction during the aforementioned awards ceremony. The situation got particularly hairy on social media, where people used the opportunity to lash out as Iggy for allegedly getting some assistance with her rhymes. In world of rap, that's apparently an incredibly big deal.
According to the New York Daily News, Iggy Azalea's boyfriend Nick Young said the rapper actually had a difficult time dealing with all the nasty comments she received from internet trolls. While she wanted to put on a strong front for the masses, Young admitted that Azalea was understandably upset about everything that went down.
He told the publication:
"Iggy is doing big things and that is what is scaring people. She is going to brush it off. She won't let it get to her. She is number one -- what can you do? She's at the top right now, so of course they are going to come at you."Having a thick skin is definitely important when you work in the entertainment industry. Even those who claim they're not bothered by the hate they receive on a regular basis still get their feelings hurt from time to time. Such is the case of Iggy Azalea, who was faced with a torrent of hate following the BET Awards.
"I had to deal with the aftermath of all that when she came home and was going through her phones, hearing everybody talking trash about her. I had to be there for her."This story is definitely a little different from the tale Azalea spun after Nicki Minaj's comments made the rounds online. The Inquisitr previously reported that Iggy seemed to take the remarks in stride, going as far as to issue a series of tweets on the matter.
Azalea said at the time:
"I have to say the general explosion of pettiness online in the last few days is hard to ignore & honestly... lame. If I had won the BET award that would've been great but it wasn't my year & I don't mind -- so you shouldn't either. Generally speaking, I'm unbothered by anything that 'happened' at the BET awards and just feel worn out by everyone trying to make me have wars with people all the time."Are you surprised that Iggy Azalea was bothered by Nicki Minaj's comments? Should the Australian rapper ignore the hate she's receiving these days?
