Lamar Odom Has Khloe Kardashian’s Support After Being Cut By New York Knicks
Lamar Odom may have hit rock bottom this week after being cut by the New York Knicks and then publicly called out by ex-wife Khloe Kardashian for being unfaithful.
But he may have an unlikely source of encouragement — Khloe herself.
Sources close to Lamar say he has struggled to find direction after Khloe left him late last year. There were widespread reports that Odom had fallen into a spiral of drug and alcohol abuse, and reportedly rebuffed Khloe’s attempts to get him to go to rehab.
After their split, Lamar lost even his motivation to play basketball, sources said. The onetime Los Angeles Lakers player reunited with former coach Phil Jackson, now the president of the New York Knicks, but could not meet the team’s necessary requirements.
“Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player,” Jackson said in a statement last week. “We found it necessary to free up the roster spot.”
Sources told Us Weekly that Lamar Odom was unable to focus on basketball with his personal life crashing down around him.
“There was a lot of hope there when he had his first initial talks with Phil [Jackson],” an insider tells Us. “He gave him a real shot. He kind of threw this one away. He wasn’t in it. He’s not doing great. Admittedly, he’s had a couple rough hands dealt with the family and the Khloe situation being pretty frequently thrown in his face.”
Others said Lamar suffered from too many distractions, including his addiction.
“Everyone was hoping that what went down with Khloe would see him rededicate himself to training and getting in shape for the season but he seems to only be half in it,” the insider noted.
To make matters worse, just days after he was cut Lamar was publicly called out by Khloe, who admitted that she knew he was being unfaithful throughout their marriage.
“Let me tell you something! Last year on my birthday, I lied to everyone, because I had to lie and say I was with my husband, when in fact, my husband was missing with another girl,” she said on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
But Lamar may still have the support of Khloe, who this week posted a quote on Instagram many feel was directed at Lamar.
Khloe posted a quote attributed to r.g. moon that read: “I would surrender my being to see you whole once more”
But though she may want to see her former flame recover, Khloe Kardashian doesn’t see a romantic future with Lamar Odom. She appears happy with her new boyfriend, rapper French Montana, and is reportedly trying to get pregnant.
