‘UFC Fight Night 45’: Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone Vs Jim Miller In Atlantic City, NJ

The Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ will host the latest UFC match up tonight, UFC Fight Night 45: Cerrone vs. Miller, with the main event taking place at 9 PM EST.

The MMA Corner reports that the night’s main event will be the face off between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and New Jersey favorite Jim Miller. The two lightweights will come to the fight in hopes of adding another win to their belt, but that’s not all. Cerrone, who is a former WEC title challenger, is coming off a three-fight winning streak. Cerrone is a Colorado native who has also earned the title of “Performance of the Night” in his previous matches when he fought and defeated Evan Dunham, Adriano Martins, and Edson Barboza.

Yahoo Sports recently published the following quotes from both Miller and Cerrone about Wednesday’s fight:

Miller (24-4, 1NC) said:

I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a fight I’m excited about. This is a fight between two guys who’ve been ranked around each other for quite a while now and, bad timing, it just never happened before. We have styles that match up really well. Both of us are aggressive and we like to fight. So I’m excited for it. I’m excited to put on a performance.

To which Donald Cerrone (23-6, 1NC) has replied:

Stylistically, it’s going to be a good match. He’s got good wrestling and a good ground game; I’ve also got a good ground game. I’m very excited for this fight. I hope it unfolds the way everyone wants it to and it’s just a barnburner!

Not to be understated, Miller is also coming off of two impressive wins. He overcame both Yancy Medeiros and Fabricio Camoes via first round submission.

Both fighters are confident that they will take the title. Miller has stated the following regarding how he anticipates taking out Cerrone:

I think it’s going to end very abruptly and violently. I think I’m going to catch his neck and I’m going to choke him.

Of course, Cerrone has his own plans:

I’m going with a knockout. That’s what I’m looking for. I’m hoping to strike with him and finish him.

Both men are in the top-10 ranking for the lightweight division. Miller is holding the number seven spot while Cerrone is just above him, holding a number six ranking. A win for either fighter could mean an advanced standing and the potential to fight against the highly rated Kabib Nurmagomedov later in the year.

A win for Jim Miller will make him the winningest fighter in the UFC lightweight division, while a win for Cerrone will mean a 10th fight night bonus under the UFC banner.

Will you be watching the UFC Fight Night? Who do you think will take the win?
