Kristen Wiig Went ‘Fully Naked’ In New Film

Kristen Wiig is about to expand her resume by starring in a drama. That’s not all as it’s said that Wiig will have to go “fully naked” for the film. It looks like as far as being vulnerable, Wiig will have a double whammy with being naked and taking on a dramatic role for the film Welcome to Me.

Wiig spoke to Elle magazine about the big shift in her career since leaving Saturday Night Live. Once known as strictly a funny lady, Wiig said that she wanted more for her career.

“I was introduced to the world as a cast member of ‘SNL’ but I’ve always wanted to do dramatic stuff, to write and direct, do a lot of different things.”

That doesn’t mean that Wiig is leaving comedy in the rearview mirror. The comedian turned actress said that there’s something that’s intriguing about the nature of taking on a dramatic role.

“Comedy is where my heart lies, but there’s also something really satisfying about being able to step away with a small crew, become a character and get to know her for a few months at a time.”

In Welcome to Me she plays a woman with borderline personality disorder. For the actress it was a radicle departure from anything she has ever played.

“I’d never read a character like that! I got to a scene where it read, ‘She’s fully naked,’ and I remember thinking: If I do this movie, I have to do this scene, because it’s really important to this script.”

That’s not all. As we reported Wiig is also set to make her directorial debut. The film is an upcoming comedy that Wiig plans to co-write and star with her friend Annie Mumolo. The pair worked together on the hit film Bridesmaids. TriStar chairman Tom Rothman, who is heading up the film said:

“Perhaps more to the point, these two supremely talented ladies are always ahead of the comedy curve, and as we at TriStar push for originality, we are lucky as hell to be in business with them. The chance to hopefully make Kristen’s first film as a director is the cherry on top.”

A few months ago Wiig told Moviefone about her desire to direct:

“[Directing is] what I’d like to start focusing on later this year. Maybe something someone else has written. Maybe something I have written. I’m not sure. I’m starting to look at stuff now. But that’s been an ambition for a long time.”

Looks like it’s going to be a filled later half of the year for Kristen Wiig.
