‘Mortal Kombat X’ Characters: Non-Franchise Guest Fighter Will Appear, But Who?

Mortal Kombat X characters have been slowly getting revealed ever since the debut trailer was shown shortly before the Electronic Entertainment Expo. The characters revealed first were Scorpion and Sub-Zero, regular staples in the franchise from the beginning.

The next batch included Cassie Cage (daughter of Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage), D’Vorah, Kotal Kahn (possibly the child of Shao Kahn), and the “Master Blaster” team-up of Ferra and Torr. The thunder god Raiden was revealed as a playable character yesterday, which to some might actually seem pretty obvious.

Most of the new lineup is completely new so far, showing that developer NetherRealm realizes that it’s best not to simply keep recycling the same batch of fighters. This is apparently the next generation of Mortal Kombat, and we could see more children of some original fighters appear.

The latest addition of the Mortal Kombat X character roster is someone from outside the franchise entirely, much like Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street) was in MK9. We doubt he’ll be back though, even to reprise his classic one-liner “How sweet! Fresh meat!” as he encounters the new cast. The PS3 version of the game included Kratos from God of War, and showed us that the outside franchise could be other games or even movies.

One popular guest the gamers are hoping for is Batman, as a nod to Scorpion’s appearance in the DC Universe brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us. The problem with that is that Batman does not kill. The closest thing to a fatality that Batman will perform is to leave someone in a fatal situation that they ended up in through their own efforts. The dark knight would not fit the cast of Mortal Kombat X characters without breaking the canon (within the DC universe). The Joker would actually fit better.

One possible ‘Mortal Kombat X’ guest character could be the Joker.

Could Ubisoft be supplying one of their Assassins for the cast? Ezio or Edward Kenway would not be out of place any more than Kratos was, or it could possibly be a completely new Assassin we haven’t heard of before, just to keep the story intact for the other franchise.

If the Lin Kuei are still converting some of their best men into robots, we might even see a human-sized Transformer enter the fray. The Pretenders were robots which looked like a human or a monster until they took their original Cybertronian form, depending on which side they were one. Even Michael Bay used one in Revenge of the Fallen, though it was one of the most poorly thought out films in the history of the series.

Another possible ‘Mortal Kombat X’ guest fighter could be a Pretender from ‘Transformers’

On the subject of Michael Bay, we might even see Casey Jones or Shredder from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise take on Sub-Zero and the bunch.

Could we even see Boba Fett or one of the Sith Lords from Star Wars enter the arena this time?

Which Mortal Kombat X characters do you expect to see, and who could the guest fighter be?
