Kylie Minogue Helps Re-enact Michael Hutchence Pick-Up Line In New Interview [Video]

Kylie Minogue opened up during a 60 Minutes interview Sunday about her well-publicized relationship with late INXS front man Michael Hutchence. The musicians, who both hail from Australia, dated for two years in the 1980s. In an emotional discussion, Minogue talked about Michael before going on to recall her breast cancer diagnosis and recovery nearly a decade ago.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Hutchence “unceremoniously dumped” Minogue for Danish model Helena Christensen.

For her part, Minogue went on to have a relationship with rocker Lenny Kravitz.

Recalling the romance, Minogue said, “I was probably not very cool then and he was very cool and somehow we met in the middle.” She went on to say that Michael taught her a lot: “Many things, many things, ways of the world, he had travelled so much. I had so many firsts with him, it was great.”

Minogue told GQ in February of this year that among those firsts was her first funeral: “I remember thinking at the time that of course his was the first funeral and the first kind of thing like that because Michael was just so many firsts in my life.”

Michael Hutchence died in November of 1997, at the age of 37. Kylie told 60 Minutes: “I miss him just as much as anyone who was fortunate enough to have spent time with him.”

One light moment of the interview saw Kylie re-enacting Hutchence’s rumored pick-up line during the first meeting. Presenter Karl Stefanovic uncomfortably played the role of Hutchence, at Kylie’s prompting. Watch the video below, courtesy of the Mail Online:

Minogue also opened up to 60 Minutes about her breast cancer diagnosis in 2005, at the age of 37. She told Stefanovic:

“I know I have strength but when you’re fighting something where there is a lot of unknowns it’s a mixture, a mixture of emotions and memories. It is years until you really get the all clear and by the time my hair started growing back it was very exciting, it was like a miracle.”

Kylie currently supports Sydney Hospital, as recounted in the interview.

Minogue is a judge on The Voice Australia, and recently had Hutchence’s former INXS bandmate Kirk Pengilly appear as guest mentor to her team. She is also set to tour on home soil in 2015, as she is planning a series of gigs in Australia. The tour follows the success of her album Kiss Me Once, which went to number one on the Australian charts earlier this year.
