Mega Millions Numbers July 11: No Jackpot Or ‘Match 5’ Winners For Second Straight Drawing

The Mega Millions numbers July 11 produced another slow night, and for the second drawing in a row, the nationwide lottery game saw neither a jackpot winner nor even a “Match 5” winner who could claim the Mega Millions second prize out of the more than 15.2 million tickets sold.

Only the 27 third-prize “4+1” winners provided any hint of excitement out of the Friday Mega Millions drawing. But that excitement was dampened for six of those ticket holders who played the Mega Millions lottery in California where the state’s pari-mutuel payout system reduced their winnings considerably.

While 21 of the third-prize tickets matching four of the first five numbers plus the Mega Ball numbers will take home $5,000 — not exactly Mega “Millions,” but still the highest prize won in Friday’s drawing — those six California ticket holders pocket just $2,462 each. That’s before taxes, of course.

The $1,907,072 in total prize money won in Friday’s Mega Millions game slightly exceeded the total in Tuesday’s equally uneventful drawing, which came to $1,777,748. On Friday, $707,420 of that total prize money came on tickets that matched only the Mega Ball to claim the game’s minimum prize of exactly $1.

In all likelihood, the vast majority of $1 winners simply cash in their ticket for another Mega Millions ticket.

With no jackpot winner Friday for the fourth consecutive drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot now rises to $41 million for the next drawing, which will take place Tuesday, July 15. That total, of course, would go to a prospective winner who chooses to take the jackpot in 30 annual installment checks, which in this case would come to $1,366,667 each — not a bad annual pre-tax income.

The Mega Millions jackpot was last won on June 27, when one ticket in Texas matched all six numbers plus the Mega Ball to score a $33 million jackpot. That winner has not yet come forward to claim the prize money.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot has a cash value of $23.6 million. That’s the amount you’ll receive if you win the jackpot and want your money all at once.
