Jada Pinkett Smith Supports Texas Teen Who Was Raped And Bullied Online

Jada Pinkett Smith fights for justice for a Texas teen that was raped and bullied online, Latin Post is reporting today. Jada Pinkett, aka Jada Pinkett Smith, openly supported the teen on her Facebook page where she posted: “This could be you, me, or any woman or girl that we know. What do we plan to do about this ugly epidemic? ?#?justiceforjada?.”

Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s hashtag #justiceforjada is in direct response to the hashtags that Houston teens were using to bully a teenage girl, identified only as Jada, who became the subject of ridicule after her photos went viral online.

According to Yahoo Philippines News, 16-year-old Jada’s photos went viral after she attended a party where she was photographed as she lay unconscious after ingesting a drink that may have been spiked with drugs. The real life Jada said the only thing she could remember is that she had attended a high school party and took a sip of a drink before she blacked out. During the time she was unconscious, teens at her local high school photographed her and posed beside the body to make jokes.

Jada’s photos were eventually uploaded to the social media site Twitter with the hashtag #jadapose. 16-year-old Jada had no idea that she had been photographed at the party. She was horrified to see her images online with teens laughing and poking fun at her during such a vulnerable time. Jada was also the victim of online bullying over the photos.

The young teen decided to take the power out of the hands of her bullies and place it in her own hands. She did just that by going to the media to tell her story. In an interview with KHOU 11 Jada stated, “I had no control.I didn’t tell anyone to take my clothes off and do what they did to me.” The teen told her story without hiding her face. “There’s no point in hiding,” she said. “Everybody has already seen my face and my body, but that’s not what I am and who I am.”

Hawthorne star Jada Pinkett Smith has done a great job spreading the word about this disturbing case. With a teen daughter to raise, Jada Pinkett Smith wanted to bring attention to the problem of online bullying, often referred to as cyber bullying.

The Lifetime movie Betrayed at 17 retold the true stories of Jessica Logan and Hope Witsell, two teens who were bullied online after photos of them went viral. Both girls committed suicide.

Both Jada Pinkett Smith and the 16-year-old Jada from Texas are to be admired for their brave stance on this delicate but troubling issue.
