AT&T outage hits Midwest

A power failure at an AT&T facility in Michigan has resulted in mobile outages in Illinois, Michigan and Indiana. Outages on the network started at around 9:30am local time.

AT&T said in a statement that most of the failed equipment was back in service as of Sunday afternoon.

A quick search online though (at 6:30pm CST) found that many customers still didn’t have service. Others are reporting voice being restored, but not data.

Some sites are suggesting that users should switch off their phones, then switch them on again in an attempt to restore service as phones might not immediately reconnect to the grid.

More if we have it.
