Tiffany Leiseth: 26-Year-Old Teacher Charged After Having Sex With Two Students

Tiffany Leiseth has been charged after allegedly having sex with two students at a New Brighton, Pennsylvania, school. According to WebProNews, Leiseth, 26, is a married woman who filled in as a substitute teacher for the past two years at the high school. The school reportedly received two phone calls about rumors involving the teacher and a couple of male students, prompting the administration to notify police.

Chief Leo McCarthy of Moon Township Police explained:

“They had a rumor that a school teacher was sending nude photographs of herself to two male students. They followed up on that rumor and they found those students, and they found the nude photographs, and they identified the teacher.”

Tiffany Leiseth was not only caught sending nude photos to these young boys (both 18 years old), but the students also told police that they were individually invited to her home where she offered them beer and had sex with them. Despite the two boys being of legal age to consent to sex, McCarthy says that Leiseth is guilty of “institutional sexual assault.” The student-teacher relationship is what is illegal in this case… the students at school are protected, if you will, until the day that they graduate. Any student-teacher relationship that occurs before graduation is considered a crime.

However, defense attorney Mike Deriso believes his client is innocent:

“She was not their teacher at the time, and they were not her students. My client did not pursue those boys. They are adults. They make their own decisions.”

Tiffany Leiseth was placed on unpaid leave on June 1, according to the Mail Online. She was arraigned in court on Monday “with two felony counts of having sexual contact with a student and one count of providing alcohol to a minor.” According to the report, at least one of the students confessed to having sex with Leiseth.

This certainly is not the first time that a teacher has had an inappropriate relationship with a student. In other cases, however, the students have been much younger. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, a Christian school teacher was arrested and charged after having sex with a 14-year-old student in Florida. The teacher and student were caught in the act in the teacher’s car that was parked behind a strip mall. In March, a Texas school teacher was charged for performing oral sex on a 15-year-old student in the classroom.
