‘Modern Family’ Home Sells Big For 2.15 Million

The Dunphys better be ready to move out of their home because it just sold for a whopping $2.15 million. The house which is a staple on the ABC hit Modern Family has been sold by a real-life realtor.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the actual house, which was someone’s home for a number of years, was a 2,792 square foot house in Cheviot Hills. The home had four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and the flooring was a hardwood mahogany. The Dunphys property was listed since March and finally closed on May 16.

That doesn’t mean the Dunphys will be in a new setting. Like most shows, Modern Family only chose to shoot externals of the house, so as to not disturb the occupants that actually lived there. As far as Modern Family is concerned it will be as if nothing has changed, as they are still using the same set to film all of the interior shots in.

According to a source 20th Century Fox, which owns the show, paid the homeowners for “on-location shooting” so basically anytime we see the Dunphys fighting on the lawn. It’s believed that the existing deal carried over to the new homeowners so production can have the flexibility of shooting around the house if they need to.

Although the Modern Family house became a big hot spot for tourists, that doesn’t mean the homeowners didn’t take full advantage of their famous home.

On the actual listing of the house it reads, “You might even recognize this home as Claire and Phil Dunphy’s house from the hit TV sitcom, Modern Family.”

It’s unknown how long Modern Family plans to go on but they are definitely returning for an upcoming sixth season in the fall.

Modern Family stars Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen as Phil and Claire Dunphey. In addition their children are Luke Dunphy (Nolan Gould), Haley Dunphy (Sarah Hyland), and Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter).

Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Eric Stonestreet also star in the comedic show.

Throughout Modern Family’s run it has won a 2012 Golden Globe, four Emmys, and four Screen Actors Guild awards.
