2-Year-Old Amputee First Steps: ‘I Got It’ Exclaims Toddler When He Takes First Steps [Video]

A 2-year-old amputee took his first steps and his priceless reaction was caught on video! Kayden Elijah Kinckle from Englewood, New Jersey, was born with omphalocele. According to FOX News, omphalocele is a “type of abdominal wall birth defect that sometimes makes organs stick out of the body.” When Kayden’s mother, Nikki, was pregnant, she learned of her son’s disability and was encouraged to terminate her pregnancy.

But Nikki decided to keep her baby — and she ended up giving birth early. This may have been a good sign in disguise. When Kayden was born, the omphalocele wasn’t too advanced.

“His spine and hip bones were fine and mentally there were no issues.”

Over the past couple of years, however, Kayden needed multiple surgeries, including amputations of both of his feet.

The now 2-year-old amputee took his first steps recently after being fitted with prosthetic limbs. As he clutched a kid-sized walker, his mother filmed him walking and then posted that video online… and it has since gone viral! In the video you can hear little Kayden talking and even singing something while he walks down a corridor. He’s a bit shaky at first, but when he got a tip from his helper (presumably a nurse), he exclaimed, “I got it!” And he continued to say “I got it” as he continued to walk for the very first time in his life.

“We celebrate his life as well and every step he takes will be to glorify God. We want the whole world to know his testimony. Thank you for all of your awesome responses, and my family is so happy that God used Kayden Elijah Knickle to encourage and inspire so many people.”

The 2-year-old amputee’s first steps showed a child defying the odds against him. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Kayden’s mother had faith — she just had a feeling that her son would be okay. Nikki knew that life wasn’t going to be easy, but she never gave up hope. One can only imagine just how amazing it was to watch her son take his first steps.

Kayden’s video was posted on YouTube on July 4 (Independence Day… coincidence?). As of now, the video has received over 300,000 views. Hundreds of people have left positive comments for Kayden and the video really is a must-see. There is something so amazing about seeing this little boy walk on his own for the first time.
