Zooey Deschanel Hates Fashion Divas, Wants More Modest Clothing

Zooey Deschanel hates it when fashion divas try to put people down if they are not wearing a designer label. More, she feels there is a market out there for modest clothing that many designers are overlooking.

In a related reported by The Inquisitr, Zooey also talked how she was bullied when she was younger. But in regards to fashion, Bindi Irwin agrees about modest clothing:

“I’m a big advocate for young girls dressing their age. I mean, for me, I look around at a lot of young girls that are my age and they’re always trying to dress older. Whether it’s wearing revealing clothes or hardly wearing any clothes at all, I feel really bad for them. It kind of has the opposite effect in some ways… it kind of does the opposite where it makes you look younger and like you’re trying too hard. I almost wish I could tell young girls, ‘look, in 10 years when you look back at yourself, you’ll cringe honey, honestly’. A lot of times I want to grab these girls and say ‘look… in 10 years you’ll regret this. Just dress like who you are. Don’t try so hard. A pair of jeans and a T-shirt is just as gorgeous and even makes you look classier’.”

Tommy Hilfiger had teamed up with Zooey Deschanel to produce a new fashion collection, but she also feels that women desire clothing that is both fashionable and modest:

“There is an audience for more modest clothes. I hate that fashion could be something that excludes people.”

As an example, Zooey discussed with InStyle. how she ran into another celebrity who snobbishly turned up her nose when she realized what Deschanel was wearing:

“I remember I was wearing a cute jacket, and I saw this well-known actress—who will remain nameless—with her stylist. They said, ‘Oh my god, that’s so cute. Where did you get it?’ I told them, and it was not a fancy brand, and they were like, ‘Oh…’ I just thought, ‘Do you not like it anymore because of the brand?’ That’s so dumb. And you have just made yourself into a cartoon villain.”
