Sleep In The Nude For A Happy Marriage, Say Researchers

A recent study carried out in the United Kingdom, and reported by The Daily Mail, showed that one of the best ways to ensure a happy marriage is to sleep naked.

The study of 1004 people found that 57 percent of those who wore nothing in bed were much more content with their relationship than those who wore nightclothes. Only 48 percent of pajama wearers were satisfied, and only 43 percent of those who wore nighties. At the bottom of the poll with 38 percent were people who wore “onesies.”

The poll was carried out on behalf of Cotton USA, which feels that the results are good news for many people. Interestingly, 40 percent of all couples in the U.K. now sleep in the nude, and that figure climbs to 45 percent for people over 55!

Stephanie Thiers-Ratcliffe, speaking for Cotton USA, said:

“There are many factors which can affect the success of a relationship. But one factor which is often overlooked is the bedroom environment. Bedding can feel extremely soft against the skin, encouraging openness and intimacy between couples and ultimately increasing happiness.”

The Mail quoted one example of Stephen McKensie, 33, from Portsmouth who said: “I have been sleeping in the nude for six years now and it’s so much more comfortable than wearing pyjamas or boxer shorts. My wife does it too, and we have never been happier. It helps you relax when you’re in bed.”

Apart from sleeping naked, the research revealed other facts about how couples behave in the bedroom that affects the degree of happiness in the relationship.

Around 50 percent of those surveyed were irritated by their partner eating in bed, 59 percent hated dirty washing being left on the floor, and 23 percent were put off by their partner insisting on wearing socks in bed.
