Utah Mom Killed Six Babies Because Of Her Meth Addiction: Police

The infamous Utah Mom, Megan Huntsman who is standing trial for the murder of six of her own children has finally revealed her “motive” behind the killings. According to a USA Today report, Megan was addicted to methamphetamine and “couldn’t cope with caring for the children”. Police officials claim that this is the first time that they have managed to cite a motive behind the gruesome killing of six of Megan’s babies.

The Inquisitr had back in April reported about the Utah mom after she was arrested. Back then, she was accused of killing six children and was charged with six counts of premeditated murder. Megan allegedly strangled and suffocated her own babies born at various periods between 1996 and 2006. After she killed them, she would hide the bodies in the garage of her home in Pleasant Grove near Salt Lake City. A seventh infant born to her was still born – but she had dumped the seventh infant’s body too there.

According to Pleasant Grove Police Captain, Mike Grove,

“It was completely selfish. She was high on drugs and didn’t want the babies, or the responsibility. That was her priority at the time.”

DNA testing by authorities have revealed that the father of all the six infants – five girls and two boys happens to be Darren West, the Utah Mom’s estranged husband. Darren himself was released in January 2014 after spending eight years in prison. He was convicted for having possession of meth-making chemicals. As it turns out, it was Darren who alerted the police after his release. West claimed he found a white box, sealed with electrical tape in the basement. The box contained the body of a baby wrapped in plastic bags and a green towel. Following further investigations, officials managed to earth five more bodies. The police has confirmed that he is not a suspect.

Meanwhile, Megan who is now famous as the Utah Mom is being held on a $6 million, cash-only bail. She has still not entered a plea and has admitted to killing all six of her newborn babies. In fact, she also went ahead and old investigators that the total number of babies could be more than six as she didn’t properly recall everything. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for July 21.
