Davion Only: 16-Year-Old Davion Back In Florida After Physical Altercation

Davion Only is back in foster care in Florida after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with the man who took him in — and the man’s son. According to People Magazine, Davion, 16, went to live in Ohio with a minister and his family after a plea for someone to adopt him went viral. Davion has only been living with the new family since March, and he is already back in the system.

Lorita Shirley, the director of Tampa Bay’s foster agency Eckerd, said:

“When he is ready, we will continue down the list of people who have expressed interest in him. Now, we might be looking at empty-nesters, people who raised teenagers but don’t have any other kids in their house. That might be the best match for him.”

Davion Only became internet-famous in 2013 when a video of him at church, begging for a home, was posted online. Over 10,000 people reached out to try and make his wishes come true. His agency placed him in Ohio. While many believed that Davion was going to finally get his “happy ever after,” things just didn’t work out for him.

According to The Tampa Bay Times, things had been going well for Davion up until recently. He had been updating his Facebook page, even saying that he “got baptized” on April 20. So what went wrong?

According to the report:

“He is back in Pinellas County, at a therapeutic foster home, upset and embarrassed, unwilling to talk… Things got physical between Davion and another child in the house, and with the dad. The family wanted him out. On May 30, Davion’s case manager flew to Ohio and brought him back to Florida.”

Davion Only will likely get another family interested in adopting him. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Davion previously searched for his birth mother — who gave birth to him in prison. He learned that she died two weeks before he began looking. Even still, Davion has had a positive attitude when it comes to finding a family. While he realizes that he is not the ideal age for a family to take him in, he still hopes that someone will adopt him.

It is possible that the altercation that he had with his last prospective family could deter people from wanting to take him in, however, there will be people that will want to give him another chance at a better life.
