John Mayer Talks Pitching A Reality Show Of His Very Own

John Mayer hasn’t been shy about his love for reality TV shows, and with the variety of different shows out there, there is no way that the singer could possibly be bored. Well, according to Us Weekly, Mayer is thinking about pitching a reality show all his own.

In 2012, Mayer admitted during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that he has a true love for reality television, more specifically, a love for dating shows like The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. We know Mayer isn’t alone in his love for these types of shows. I mean, if these reality shows weren’t the guilty pleasures of many, then there wouldn’t be 18 seasons of The Bachelor or 10 seasons of The Bachelorette.

Mayer said:

“I don’t even feel like it’s my fault for liking it. It’s not a guilty pleasure. It’s designed to be a pleasure.”

Despite there being an endless supply of reality TV shows out there, Mayer has an idea all his own. The show that Mayer wants to pitch would be titled My Funny Friend, and according to Fashion Times, the singer believes that his concept has a “great human-interest angle.”

A source told Us Weekly:

“His concept is: Everyone thinks they have a buddy who’s so hysterical, he or she should be in comedy. So people nominate their friends, and they go through a series of evaluations to determine if they’re actually funny or not.”

Singer turned reality TV creator? Now this could get interesting! Reports state that John Mayer even knows who he wants to host his show. Anyone have a wild guess? According to Us Weekly, Mayer’s dream host would be celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, “who has hosting experience from ‘Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations’ and ‘Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.'”

Mayer’s fans seem to be on board with his new TV idea, just check out some of these tweets:
