‘The Walking Dead’ Season 5 Behind The Scenes Preview Hits The Internet [Video]

Filming for The Walking Dead season 5 has commenced at the hit series’ Georgia location, and AMC has just released this behind-the-scenes video.

It’s probably just a mere coincidence that this footage (see embed below) from the set emerges just as AMC is running a Walking Dead marathon over the holiday weekend.

In good news for fans of the zombie apocalypse drama, a Walking Dead producer on the video boasted that season 5 will likely be more action packed and bloodier that the previous four seasons.

Scheduled to air on October 12, the premiere episode of the new season, according to star Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) is “the most ambitious first episode I think we’ve attempted.” Added Lauren Cohan (Maggie) about season 5, “This episode is so disturbing. Some of the stuff they shot yesterday, I don’t know if it’ll make it to TV.”

There are even rumors that Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame might join the Walking Dead cast in season 5.

Season 4 ended with a cliffhanger as Grimes and his crew were imprisoned in a railroad car in Terminus. There has been much internet speculation that the non-zombie inhabitants of Terminus are cannibals, and judging by the human bones on the ground briefly visible while Grimes and company tried unsuccessfully to escape, this may indeed be accurate.

Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly that “There’s a lot going on with Terminus. In our premiere episode of season 5 we’re going to give a ton of answers of who the people of Terminus are, what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, what’s going on with them. And by the end of that episode you’re going to have a much better understanding of what’s going on with them and why they’re so important to the show…”

In the interview, Kirkman also joked that Daryl dies, but that was just his way of tweaking the fan base of the series favorite portrayed by Norman Reedus.

The Walking Dead finale on March 30 drew about 15.7 million viewers, a huge number, but somewhat less than the 16.1 million that watched the season premiere in October 2013. The Walking Dead is, however, the highest rated show on cable television.
