Gene Simmons Declares Fox News Has ‘Won’

No stranger to controversial statements, Kiss bassist Gene Simmons shared his opinion yesterday about the current state of cable news, alleging via Twitter that CNN has “given up” and Fox News has “won.”

According to a Mediaite report, Simmons then defended his views, engaging in a few Twitter “spats” with some of his followers.

As Noisecreep has reported, Simmons’ bandmate in Kiss, Paul Stanley, has expressed embarrassment with Simmons’ outspokenness on political matters.

“It’s absurd that a celebrity could speak out on the economy or politics with no more justification than a hit album or a movie. Not to deride Gene, but I just think he’s part of a symptom of absurdity where you’ll see somebody on television whose only criteria for being there is success in a field far away from what they’re being asked about. I really don’t know who is more ridiculous, the celebrity answering these political questions or the person asking them.”

Despite the ire of some of his followers, Simmons stood by his argument, claiming he was stating “fact, not judgement.”

The outspoken bassist was inducted, along with his fellow Kiss members, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year, as The Inquisitr reported. Widely known for his success as an entrepreneur, Gene Simmons will release a book about his business acumen, Me Inc., in October.
