Singer, dancer and actress Eartha Kitt has died aged 81 after a fight with Colon Cancer.
Kitt, best known for her sultry purr, dazaled audiences for decades with one of the most unique and amazing voices in the music industry.
She is one of the few people to have ever to have been nominated for the Tony, Grammy and Emmy awards, and won two Emmys. Orson Welles once called her the “most exciting woman in the world.”
Eartha Kitt played Catwoman in the 1960’s TV series Batman, starred in numerous Broadway products, and continued performing in cabaret even in her later years.
For me, as will be the case for many though, it’s Eartha Kitt’s voice we will always remember. Here’s a taste of some Eartha Kitt greats via Grooveshark.
