Sopranos actor John Costelloe dead in suicide


John Costelloe, the actor who played Johnny Cakes, the gay-fireman lover of a mob capo on The Sopranos has been found dead in an apparent suicide.

John Costelloe was found dead after police were called to his residence after family members we unable to find him. Mixed reports suggest he shot himself in the head in the basement of his home either December 16 or 18.

Costelloe, a former FDNY firefighter featured in a four-episode arc on The Sopranos in 2006 in the role of short-order cook Jim “Johnny Cakes” Witowski.

Costelloe had also had minor roles in Die Hard 2 and a guest appearance in Law and Order on his resume. He was 47.
